UKGC Fines Paddy Power And Betfair Total £490K
The Paddy Power Sportsbook and PPB Counterparty Services Limited, which trades as Betfair, will pay £490,000 for sending promotional push notifications to devices connected to self-excluded customers.
On November 21, 2021, the operator's app distributed a proposal to increase the probability of betting on English Premier League football matches on devices linked to GAMSTOP (Open in a new tab) registered accounts or devices linked to accounts that licensees have excluded themselves.
The action violates Commission rules requiring gambling operators to take all reasonable steps to prevent marketing materials from being sent to self-excluded customers and to take action to remove the names and details of self-excluded individuals from the marketing database within two days of receiving the completed self-excluded notice. 안전 슬롯사이트
"There's no evidence that marketing was intentional, and there's no evidence that everyone with the app saw notifications or that self-exclusion customers were allowed to gamble, but we're taking those violations seriously," said Kay Roberts, gambling commission operations director. "We'll advise all operators to learn from the operator's failures and make sure their systems are robust enough so that self-exclusion customers don't always send promotional material."
